Striker set to leave Coventry
Platt to go on loan to Norwich Coventry City's tall striker Clive Platt is set to leave Coventry City for Norwich on loan until the end of the season. The deal will be done before next Thursday's emergency loan transfer deadline and is being done as a way of reducing the wage bill at cash strapped Coventry City. When former manager Aidy Boothroyd brought Platt into the the City side a few eyebrows were raised with questions being asked if a lower league striker in his 30's was good enough for the Championship. While it must be admitted he did not exactly set The Ricoh alight with stunning performances and loads of goals, he did do a good job for Boothroyd, especially in the first half of the season, but he never won over the fans. Boothroyd knew all about Platt from when the pair were at Colchester and if the move does go ahead, Platt will rejoin another of his former Colchester managers, Paul Lambert. While many fans will be pleased with the departure of Platt, they will not be so pleased to learn that the club will not be replacing him with any incoming loan players. At the moment the club simply cannot afford to pay any loan fees and add to the wage bill.
