Ex City keeper to be on Strictly Former Coventry City trialist keeper Peter Shilton is to compete in the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. Shilton, who played for City in the friendlies at Finn Harps and St Albans in 1995, as part of a 30 year career which saw him make 125 appearances for England and over 1000 appearances including over 100 for five different clubs, is the second goalkeeper to appear on the show and follows in the foot steps of Peter Schmeichel.Shilton who lives in Kenilworth, celebrated his 61st birthday ten days ago and told the CT that he had been training hard for the show."I've been training hard, practically every day for four or five hours a session . "I'm starting from scratch so it's tough. Physically, it's fine but it is the mental challenge of learning the routines as well."I did a bit of ballroom dancing when I was 16 or 17 as training for being a goalkeeper but that was more than 40 years ago. To be frank, I can't remember a thing about it." You can see how he and his partner Erin Boag get on, starting on BBC1 on Friday night at 9pm.
