Sphinx Sports & Social went three points clear at the top of the Coventry Alliance Division 2 table tonight with a 2-1 victory over AEI Rugby The Bell.
Chris Harris scored from close range to give Sphinx the lead in the seventeenth minute and two minutes into the second half a Dowsing free kick made it two.
AEI were reduced to ten men when a defender was sent off for a last ditch tackle on the edge of the area.
Dowsing hit the post before AEI pulled one back three minutes from time to set up a grandstand finish.
However, Shaun Sweeney's side stayed strong and won the game which sees them go three points clear.
