Sky Blues to check on King

29 April 2011 08:30
Coventry will assess Marlon King ahead of Andy Thorn`s first game in charge since being appointed permanent manager - at home to promotion-chasing Reading. King, City`s leading scorer, missed Monday`s 2-1 defeat at Middlesbrough with a knock but completed a small amount of training on Thursday morning and will be monitored ahead of the weekend. Should the former Wigan man not make it, Clive Platt could step in as he did at the Riverside, or Freddy Eastwood may get a chance from the off. King was one of two changes against Boro, and left-back Chris Hussey will also be checked upon having been replaced by Stephen O`Halloran due to illness. Striker King, goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and midfielder Aron Gunnarsson were all offered new contracts on Thursday, the same day Thorn was announced as full-time successor to Aidy Boothroyd.
