Sky Blues sent crashing back to earth

Summer signing Andy Fleming enjoyed a dream debut as his brace ensured Morecambe ended an historic night with a superb Carling Cup first-round triumph over Championship side Coventry. In the first ever competitive match at the Shrimps` new Globe Arena, Fleming gave the hosts the lead in first-half injury time when he converted from Adam Rundle's cross. And he grabbed his second of the game just after the hour mark with a similar clinical finish as Rundle again provided the assist with another left-wing cross. The Sky Blues had the better of the early pressure with Chris Hussey hitting the foot of a post with a curled effort after 15 minutes and Carl Baker heading over from close range. Roy O'Donovan had a golden chance to give his side the lead midway through the opening period when he latched onto a mistake from Darren Moss but shot weakly wide when he should have done much better. The second half saw O'Donovan miss another great early chance before Fleming sent Morecambe into a commanding position. And the Shrimps could have had more as Chris McCready headed just wide and Craig Stanley shot against a post.
