Netherlands Antilles international striker Orlando Smeekes has been offered a further week's trial at Coventry. The 28-year-old Carl Zeiss Jena forward has impressed boss Aidy Boothroyd after spending the past week training with the Sky Blues "I have invited Orlando back for a week to have a look at him to see what he is like in our environment," Boothroyd told skysports.com. "He is very, very quick and very direct and gives us something we have not got at the moment, so with lots of irons still in the fire, this is a great opportunity to get him in here and have a look at him to see what he is like when it is not 35 degrees back in Coventry." Smeekes' agent Christoph Adedeji is hoping a deal with the npower Championship outfit might be on the horizon. "Orlando has been extremely impressive while on trial with the club and the club is keen on signing him," Adedeji told Ostthuringische Landeszeitung. "Now we have to start with negotiations. Unfortunately there seems to be still a way to go until we have an agreement."
