Journalist Says Deal Was Turned Down

According to journalist David Conn, Coventry City's owner's SISU turned down an offer to play rent free at the Ricoh Arena for the rest of the season.

SISU are paying around £150k a season to play at Sixfields in front of crowds of less than two thousand and are rumoured to be losing around £70k per week as well as having the extra overheads like having to pay to bus in staff and stewards and pay for stewards to protect Tim Fisher and Steve Waggott, who have been adding to the extra outlay by travelling by first class train to matches.

But it seems, they have turned down a chance to save some money and give every City supporter (and their own staff, all of whom would prefer the club back at the Ricoh Arena) the christmas present they want by rejecting the offer.

Conn, who wrote an excellent blog for The Gurdian, said in response to comments made by a City supporter: "Where you say ACL never offered a rent-free deal; they have within the last few weeks.

"An offer was made and communicated via the Football League which was trying to see if a deal could be done.

"Sisu rejected that offer, to return the club to the Ricoh Arena rent-free."
