Council Leader On Rent Gate Latest

Coventry City Council leader John Mutton has accused Coventry City's owners SISU of planning a new £30m stadium in South Warwickshire.

Speaking on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, Cllr Mutton, a City supporter for over fifty years, said that the rent owed was £1.28m. An offer of 400k plus a share of catering income (which effectively makes it 300k) was made by Arena Coventry Limited which was rejected as was a substantially lower offer.

He also said that if Sisu don't come to agreement then he believes that believe ACL will proceed with the winding up order against the club and that Sisu say they can't afford the rent but say they will build a new £30m stadium in South Warwickshire if necessary.
