City Playing At Brandon Highly Unlikely

The owner of Coventry Bees Speedway team Mick Horton has said that plans for SISU to build a new stadium are "pie in the sky".

Speaking to David Rowe, the Coventry Telegraph's Speedway reporter, Mr Horton said that Brandon Stadium, which had been named as one possible site was a non starter and said: "I signed a four year agreement for the Speedway in April.

"I think anyone that knows the area would know that a football stadium is a non-starter. The infrastructure just is not there and the road network would need to be completely changed.

"It just wouldn't happen, not under Rugby Council, so I think we can dismiss it immediately. "That's not to say there might be buyers out there who want it to continue as a motorsport sport arena or whatever they want to do. But from our point of view and we expect the current owners, and/or new owners to honour it.

"And if the football club can't afford to pay the rent at the Ricoh, I don't see where the money is coming from to buy the land and also change the infrastructure and road system - I think it is just pie in the sky."
