Forgotten and out of favour striker Freddy Eastwood scored two goals yesterday in the behind closed doors friendly against a Chesterfield XI.
Despite his two goals the Sky Blues manager Andy Thorn remains to be convinced that Eastwood has made any where near enough progress in regaining his fitness.
His first goal came from a piece of opportunism when he took a quick free kick that deceived the Chesterfield defence and goal keeper, while the second was more vintage Eastwood. He rounded a defender before blasting his shot into the bottom corner of the goal.
After the game Thorn was asked if he would be tempted to select Eastwood as a substitute for Saturday's trip to Pride Park, Derby.
He replied, “It’s only his first game back after a long time out. It was good for him to get a game under his belt but he needs games.
"He scored a couple but with all due respect we are talking about Chesterfield Reserves here, so we’ll have to see how he goes.”
Eastwood has yet to make a start for Coventry City this season and he has made just one substitute appearance when he came on in the 0-0 draw with Watford at The Ricoh Arena way back in August.
