Ranson targets attendance boost

Ranson has admitted "a great worry" over falling home attendances for the Sky Blues, with the club averaging just 16,046 over their five Championship games this season. A half-hour car journey along the M69 separates the Walkers Stadium from the Ricoh and Ranson is hoping Saturday's crunch clash, along with two impressive results already this week, will attract a large crowd for the lunchtime kick-off and spark a sign of things to come. The Sky Blues chief told the club's official website: "There is a lot to play for and I really hope that the lure of the derby along with the exciting week will bring in a big gate. We know at the club that we have a lot to prove but we can't do it without support. "The attendances are a great worry to everyone and while we have done a great deal in terms of pricing and incentives, we know it is ultimately success on the pitch which will bring people in. "We would love to build the finished team and see that attract supporters but it doesn't work like that. Without the finances from the gates we cannot continue to build in the way we have. We are currently around 10,000 below where we want to be and we have to start building attendances - hopefully Saturday will be a step towards that."
