City are 11 points adrift of the top six with 10 games remaining and must defy expectations with a remarkable run if they are to win a place in the Championship play-offs this term. But Ranson insists Chris Coleman's side will be better prepared to claim a top-six place next season. "We will look to strengthen the squad again in the summer ready for a real push at the top end of the Championship next season," he told the Coventry Evening Telegraph. "This time next year the players we have drafted in will be all be 12 months older, more experienced and better because they are young and improving all the time."
