05 April 2011 21:55
Tuesday night round up Preston North End's battle against avoiding relegation to League One got a touch more unlikely following a 2-1 defeat at Reading tonight. Jimmy Kebe put Reading ahead in the 21st minute but a McCarthy own goal seven minutes into the second half levelled the tie. Former Sky Blue Jay Tabb played 57 minutes for the Royals who won the match with a goal from Robson-Kanu who had just come on, eight minutes from time. The defeat means Preston that they are still eleven points behind Coventry City who have 45 points with seven matches left and onne point less than third from bottom Sheffield United. Tottenham, who had Peter Crouch sent off, went down 4-0 to Real Madrid in a Champions League Quarter-Final first leg. Former City defender Andy Whing was booked in Leyton Orient's 2-0 win over Plymouth Argyle. Former City loanee Gary Madine scored for Sheffield Wednesday in a 4-0 win over Tranmere Rovers. Northampton had four ex Coventry players on the pitch at the same time tonight in a 1-1 draw at Burton Albion. Marcus Law and Liam Davis whilst Kevin Thornton and Leon McKenzie were second half sustitutes.
