Striker To Start At MK Dons

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that Chris Dagnall is going straight into the team that will face MK Dons tomorrow.

Dagnall was one of three players signed by City on loan yesterday and speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner about Dagnall who has joined from Barnsley until January 5th, Pressley said: “Chris Dagnall will go straight in. Leon Clarke is obviously out for a few weeks so it was vital that we brought in a replacement and, in my opinion, someone who very much fits the DNA of what we’re trying to build at the football club.

“It’s a lot easier to attract a player if he knows he’s coming in to play. Chris has been used sparingly at Barnsley this season but he was always involved, often coming off the bench and he really needs to be playing football.

“He understands that he needs to perform to stay in the team but to get him here it was important he knew he was coming in to play.

“I have tracked his career. I watched him on four or five occasions when he was at Rochdale and I actually met him and tried to persuade him to come to Falkirk, but he had better offers at the time and he chose to go to Scunthorpe instead.

“I inquired about his situation in the summer but was told he wasn’t available, so he’s a player I like and who will fit in to our very hard working environment because he plays with energy.

“He’s definitely got an eye for goal. He’s not always been played in his natural No.9 position at Barnsley, he’s been utilised in wide areas, so he’s really excited about coming here. He’s got good pace, mobility and technique and can score various types of goals."
