Pressley - Better For Webster Being Here

City boss on fellow Scot

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley feels that Andy Webster is better being at City than being in the Scottish national squad and not being involved in their matches.

Webster was in the squad for Scotland's defeat to England but has not featured in any of Gordon Strachan's squads since.

Although Webster would love to continue on his international journey, a philosophical Steven Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: "When you are with the national squad you don’t always train at the same intensity as you do at your own club, and I think at this stage of his career if he’s not going there to play then it’s better that he’s here and continuing with his fitness and intensive training.

“So I actually think he is fine just now. Of course, he would love to play for his country again, and he has said that to me, but probably while he is not in the team just now it is more beneficial for him to be here.

“And it’s beneficial for us as well, obviously.”
