Praise for Pools ace after cup shock

Boyd came on as a second-half substitute for his second debut for the club on Wednesday night and crashed in a 105th-minute volley to give Hartlepool victory at the Ricoh Arena. Pools will now host Owen Coyle's Burnley in the second round but Turner has his sights firmly set on climbing the League One table. He said: "I know Coventry had some players missing but we always knew it'd be a tough game. "We kept our shape and worked hard and I felt that as it started to open up we looked decent going forward. "Adam Boyd popped up with the goal and that is why I signed him back in the summer - because he can score goals out of nothing. "Since he left us in 2006, he's had some tough times but he's come back hungry and he is getting sharper. "There is no doubt in my mind that he will score goals for us and he will play a massive part in our season. "We've struggled in three of the last four seasons in League One and we are trying to get out of that cycle. "This is an excellent start and the lads can all now look forward to the Burnley game." Coventry manager Chris Coleman fielded five teenagers in a weakened side but had no complaints with their efforts. He said: "I was happy with what I saw from the youngsters. They weren't afraid of it and at times they could have been more positive but that will come with experience. "We certainly did enough not to lose the game but good luck to Hartlepool and we wish them all the best. "That was worth 20 reserve games for the kids. "We were missing nine or 10 players for one reason or another but those who were wearing the shirt can't be faulted. "It's one less game we have to worry about with our small squad so that may be a positive."
