The currently appointed referee for Coventry City's League One fixture against Shrewsbury Town is Darren Deadman.

Mr Deadman is from Peterborough and his last City game was the 1-0 home defeat to Leicester City on August 6th 2011 in which he booked six and sent two off

A 36 year old Civil Servant, Mr Deadman progressed to the National List via the National List of assistant referees in 2000 and the referees' list in 2005. He got into refereeing after playing semi pro football and getting injured.

Mr Deadman has a reputation for being card happy and last season in his fifty matches, he showed a staggering 209 yellow cards and fourteen reds, way more than any other referee on the Football League list.This season in his 20 matches , he has shown 69 yellow cards and 4 red. His last game was Hartlepool's 3-2 win at Sheffield United on Saturday where he cautioned five.

Before the Leicester game, his last City game was the, 2-2 draw at Norwich City back in May 2011. Previous matches are the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace in February 2010, the 3-2 defeat at Preston in September 2009, the 1-1 draw at Sheffield United in September 2008 and the 2-1 defeat at Watford in April 2008.
