In the only League One game of the day, Notts County beat Gillingham 3-1.
Callum McGregor opened the scoring in the 40th minute for the side managed by Shaun Derry and former Sky Blue youngster Greg Abbott.
Gillingham levelled two minutes into the second half through Bradley Dack but McGregor netted again in the 53rd minute before Jack Grealish completed the win in the 87th minute for a Magpies side which left former City winger David Bell on the bench.
