Shaw on lack of appearances for McSheffrey

Coventry City Caretaker Manager Richard Shaw feels that there is no underlying reason why Gary McSheffrey has been limited in the amount of starts he has made this season.

McSheffrey has only had starts against in cup matches and speaking to the CT's Andy Turner, Richard Shaw said: "I don't think anything has gone wrong with Gary.

"Kevin Kilbane has done well in that position but Gary will be fine. It's not about individuals, it is about a squad game and team game.

"We have played different formations this season and there is no issue with Gary or his fitness. He has a big part to play this season, there's no doubt about that."

Asked if not playing McSheffrey in league matches had affected his confidence, Shaw said: "I don't think it has knocked him at all. he has been training really well, he's a confident lad who is good for this football club.

"He's good around the players and his attitude has been good even though he has been a sub a lot this year."
