Former Coventry City youngster Shaun Jeffers has turned down a deal at Tranmere Rovers.
Bedford born Jeffers, who came through City's Academy, Reserves and U21's and made a limited number of first team appearances, had been offered a deal at Preston Park but has according to Tranmere's club website rejected the offer made to him over a row about paying for accommodation.
Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore told his club's website: "He turned down the offer which surprised me. "We gave him the opportunity and I think he had half a chance.
"We haven't got loads of money to give him but he was looking for accommodation as well.
"I always thought that's what your money was for, I have to pay my mortgage out of my wages.
"You've got to be hungry in this game and for me he wasn't hungry enough."
