No Guarantees Players Won't Be Sold - Clouting
CEO refuses to rule out further player sales Coventry City CEO Paul Clouting has refused to rule out the fact that players might have to be sold to fund on going losses made by the club. Speaking to the CT's Andy Turner, Clouting said: "Never. Because I don’t think it is right that anyone says to us, would you give categorical assurances about anything. "The way this business works is a budget is given to the manager and he is asked to work within that budget and, once it is agreed, it is his job to manage inside it. "If at any stage he comes along and says I want to spend more – and the assumption is always that someone is going to go – but someone might come. "So if there are times in the regular meetings that the chairman will have with manager and he says that he needs a right-back or centre-forward, then a conversation will be had. "But to get into will you categorically say that anything in a business will never happen, it is a really unwise thing to say. "It is our intention to fund the playing side of this business within the agreed budget. "It has been agreed with the manager, he’s happy with it and it is his job to put out the best possible team out on the field of play."
