Boothroyd looks elsewhere Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd had decided not to offer the two on trial players Orlando Smeekes and Kevin Ellegaard contracts. The big Dutch striker Smeekes had been training with City for the past two weeks and he played in the three pre season friendlies, but failed to find the net. The Danish international goal keeper Kevin Ellegaard had bee training with the squad for just one week , but had played in the two games against Nuneaton and Hinckley. Although both players had impressed those fans who had seen them play, neither will join the Sky Blues, but City boss Boothroyd has  left the door slightly open for either or both of the players in the future. Ellegaard is available for a free transfer as he currently has no club, but Smeekes in under contract with German club Carl Zeiss Jena so a fee would have been payable and with funds at Coventry City restricted this could have proved to be a stumbling block. Boothroyd said, “I have made my decision and we are not going to do anything with them for the time being. I will continue to monitor them but at this moment in time I have got three or four irons in the fire." "You have got to look at everything and also keep things bubbling away, as we will do with these two.”
