Murphy Joins Coventry City

Three year deal done Coventry City have signed Goalkeeper Joe Murphy on a three year deal the club has announced. Murphy is Westwood's successor in goal for the Sky Blues and joins on a free transfer from Scunthorpe United. The 29 year old Murphy did not want to play in the third tier of English football as it would harm his international career as understudy to the man he replaces. Coventry City manager Andy Thorn, who signed another goalkeeper, Chris Dunn from Northampton earlier in the day, said,  "Joe is proven quality. He's an international and I've liked him for a long, long time." "We tried to get him at the same time that we brought Kieren to the club so we are delighted to have him on board now. It's been a terrific day for the club to get two very good goalkeepers in and I think this gives us a really good backbone to build on." "It's not easy these days to just go out and sign players. A lot of work goes into each and every signing and it's great that two players that we have targeted have both joined."
