Morrison explains Coventry exit

Clinton Morrison has revealed the change in manager at Coventry prompted him to leave the Ricoh Arena. The former Republic of Ireland striker, who was out of contract at the Championship outfit, has since moved to Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer. Morrison was happy working under former Sky Blues manager Chris Coleman but, after Aidy Boothroyd succeeded him at the helm, the 31-year-old knew it was time to move on. "As soon as Chris Coleman left Coventry, I knew that I was going to go in a different direction. I had a lot of time for him," Morrison told the Coventry Telegraph. "I had spoken to the chairman and he said that he wanted to keep me but that I was going to have to be on reduced terms. "I said I'd wait to see what happened, but then Chris got the sack. Aidy Boothroyd liked a different style - I didn't think it would suit me and I didn't think we suited each other if I'm being honest. That's why it didn't work out there."
