More From The World Cup

Our man in Cape Town reports in Left work early on Friday to attend the England game, then it was the weekend, yesterday I had a day off to watch Portugal v N. Korea and so only back at the office today.Spoke with the guys on BBC Radio Cov & Warks on Friday's and Monday's breakfast show expecting to be bubbling with excitement on the latter. Well, we all know what happened so I won't add to it here, but must say that the atmosphere prior to the game was absolutely fantastic and in the stadium it was something else - as good as Wembley on a really good day. It was as close to being a "home" game as was possible. That England's performance(?) did not rise to the occasion was very very disappointing.  But no time to sulk: let's be positive and trust that the team can sort themselves out and give us a show worthy of its standing tomorrow. COME ON ENGLAND!Naturally, SA is hoping its team can at least put in a worthy performance against the hapless French side this afternoon - we're all being let off work early to see the outcome…Quite a display by the Portuguese yesterday. From where we were sitting - high behind the "six goal end" - we saw the way the Portuguese kept their shape and finished so ruthlessly, making them a strong contender for the final. We're hoping they beat Brazil because that means we'll be able to see Brazil live in Cape Town in the last 16 match against Spain or Chile, none of which have played here as yet.Pictures copyright of Mike Monk
