Former City striker goes down under

Former Coventry City striker Michael Mifsud has signed for the Australian A-League side Melbourne Heart.

The 32 year old Malta captain has penned a one year deal and joins up with another former Coventry City player John Aloisi, who is now the coach at Melbourne Heart.

Aloisi said, "Michael has scored goals at whatever level he has played at. He is an exciting footballer and will be a dynamic influence in our attack."

Mifsud, nicknamed 'the Mosquito', became a Sky Blue hero when he scored twice at Old Trafford to knock Manchester United out of the League Cup, but the fell out of favour with the fans when he tried to hold the club to ransom over his contract negotiations. The club later realeased th estriker who then had difficulty in finding a new club and he eventually ended up playing back in Malta.
