McPake injury doubt
Coleman's injury worries mount Central defender James McPake is an injury doubt for the Saturday home game against Derby County. McPake has an ankle injury and missed training yesterday, but manager Chris Coleman remains hopeful his big defender will be able to play some part in the game. Richard Wood also sat out yesterdays training session following a knock he picked up against his old team Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday, but he is expected to be fit to start the Derby game. Michael McIndoe will also miss the game through injury. Coleman will definitely be without striker Freddie Eastwood as he is suffering from a back injury from which he won't have recovered in time.Earlier he mentioned it might be an ideal time to practise squad rotation and give some of his fringe players a start in the remaining games of the season. Coleman, reflecting on his team's recent poor starts and his mounting injury list said, “We have had a habit of starting games from half time in the last two or three and we have got to get out of that and start from the first minute and carry it through the 90, rather than just do the 45,” “We seem to be waiting for someone else to do something rather than taking the initiative ourselves and just do our own job properly. "It would be nice to get a win at the weekend after going five without a win when we have dropped points really and the two games that stand out are the Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday matches, both of which we drew when we were looking to win. “Cardiff followed by Leicester and West Brom away were always going to be tough ones so we want to get back to it and three points will be important for us. “The players are fit enough and I am not going to mention tiredness again because it is the same for everyone. Maybe we were a little bit hung over after coming so close to the top six but we have got to put that to bed because we have got games to win and jobs to do.” “Woody trained yesterday and is OK but James didn’t because he has got a badly bruised ankle, but hopefully he will be all right. He wanted to train and we had to say no because if he had another collision that would have been him out for the weekend, so we have had to pull him out." “They are desperate to play because Leon Barnett is sitting there waiting for a game and neither of them want to lose their place. There is not much to choose between the three of them so I will pick the fittest ones to be honest. Maybe with two games we will have different centre-halves playing each game.”
