Gillingham keen on striker

Sky Sport are reporting that out of favour Coventry City striker Cody McDonald is set to return to one of his former clubs, Gillingham on loan.

The 26 year old striker joined Coventry under former manager Andy Thorn from Norwich. McDonald had spent time on loan from The Canaries at Gillingham during the 2010/11 season where he made 41 appearances and scored 25 goals.

Since the arrival of Mark Robins, McDonald has been on the fringes of the side and has only made limited appearances and Robins is known to be keen on having a clear out of players.

Gillingham manager Martin Allen is keen to add firepower to his side as they mount a promotion challenge. McDonald was The Gills player of the year during his loan spell at the club.
