Leon Clarke Goal Earns Coventry Three Points Against Tranmere Rovers

17 January 2013 09:49

A 19th minute goal from Leon Clarke gave Coventry City a victory over League One leaders Tranmere Rovers on a bitterly cold night at the Ricoh Arena.

City, who have finally paid the rent for their Academy at the Alan Higgs Centre but are still to make their next move regarding the Ricoh Arena following Coventry City Council bailing out stadium management company Arena Coventry Limited, worked hard in the first half but were grateful to keeper Joe Murphy playing against his former club in the second half for a number of saves which saw City take the victory.

City boss Mark Robins was pleased with Leon Clarke's goal and said about the striker to BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "I'm pleased for Leon who has missed a few chances recently. "If he keeps getting in those positions, he will score more than he misses."
