Konstantopololous future uncertain

Contract expires on Sunday Coventry City's second choice goal keeper Dimi Konstantopolous has said he is in the dark over his future. The 31 year old Greek stopper is out of contract after the final whistle on Sunday's final game of the season. It has been a season of frustration for Konstantopolous who has only started 26 games in the last three years for Coventry City, but he has been an excellent back up 'keeper for  Westwood  when he  taken ill in the league game against West Brom and the FA Cup game at Portsmouth earlier this season. Dimi's only starts for the Sky Blues this season were against his former club Hartlepool in the Carling Cup first round defeat and Reading and Derby in the league. His manager Chris Coleman has always praised Dimi's professionalism for his attitude in training and accepting he will always be the number two ' keeper while Keiren Westwood is at the club. It is because of his permanent number two status that means Konstantopolous wants to move to another club where he will be the principal goal keeper and get regular competitive games. Konstantopolous is philosophical about the situation saying, “It has been a weird season, one of those you don’t really want to have." “I wasn’t left with many options, I wasn’t allowed to go out on loan because they needed me here as cover, so it has been frustrating at times. But that’s the nature of the job; football is not always about laughs and good times." said the 'keeper who had loan spell at Cardiff and Swansea last season. “I am in a group of lads that really get on with each other so there is no point in getting bitter or not giving 100 per cent. You just have to carry on working hard. When I have been asked to play I have always given my best, and I think I did well." “I haven’t been offered anything yet and I don’t know what is going to happen. I have heard one or two rumours that the club might be offering something but I have to look at my options. Obviously I have to wait until the season is over and clubs know what they are doing with their squads." “If I have an option to stay here at Coventry then I would definitely consider it, but I have to look at what’s about and make the best decision I can. Whatever happens I want to make sure that I am playing games and I need to be somewhere where I give myself the best chance of doing that." “I am confident I can do a job in the Championship and it’s not as if I am 39 and looking for a year here and a year there. I want to show what I can do, because ever since I have been here I have never really been able to do that. “I have had some bad luck with injury and I haven’t had a full season like I had in the past, so I’m looking to get in a good run of matches. It doesn’t matter how long or hard you train, it’s not the same as game time because as a goalkeeper you only get your confidence through playing. This is a big summer for me, but whatever happens, it’s not the end of the world.”
