King signing marathon to be concluded today?
King expected to sign a one year deal today The long, tedious saga surrounding the signing of controversial striker Marlon King is expected to come to an end today when the 30 year old signs a one year deal with Coventry City. Since his release from prison at the end of July, King has been training with the Coventry City squad, where he has impressed all with his fitness and ability. King scored a goal in the 4-4 draw in a behind closed doors friendly against a MK Dons side. Boothroyd hopes to be able to give King and his other new signing Danny Ward, their debuts at The Ricoh on Saturday when City face near neighbours Leicester City. The City boss is hoping that the addition of the two players will make a significant impact on the team and make them into a potent force with ward supplying crosses for the powerful King to score. Boothroyd reflected, “He looks very, very sharp and he will get goals,” he said about King. “When he came to Watford he was hungry and had a point to prove and that’s the Marlon King that we have got here now." It looks as if King will partner Lukas Jutkiewicz up front as Freddy Eastwood has a knee injury and is likely to miss out on Saturday. With fans getting frustrated and bored with the long running "will he or won't he" sign saga, Boothroyd said, "He is ready and wants to sign. I am hoping, fingers and everything else crossed, that we can get Marlon done. We are very close and hopefully we will have him in the squad for Leicester." “There are no problems, it is just a very delicate situation and the club have been as professional as they possibly can be in making sure we have covered all bases. That we make sure everything is right for the player, the club and everyone concerned with it." “It is a where now most people are saying, are you going to do it or not and if you are, get on with it and I think they are probably right in saying that, so we will have to see what we can do and hopefully tie it up for the weekend."
