Coventry City defender and stand in skipper Richard Keogh has said that he is proud of his record of playing in every game since he joined the Sky Blues from Carlisle United.
Speaking to the CT, the popular player said: “I don’t really think about it to be honest,” said the modest defender, whose unstinting service and leadership has been rewarded with the skipper’s armband in Sammy Clingan’s absence with a broken toe.
“Obviously I am proud of that record and I try to keep myself as fit as possible and always work hard on the training ground to put myself up for selection, and always give my all in games.
“I played a lot of games at Carlisle as well. I got injured at the start of my first season with them and then went on to play every game. It’s a consistent record but who knows in football.
"At the end of the day if I am fit, playing well and giving my all then hopefully I will keep getting picked.
“I have been pleased with my form even though the team in general has underachieved a little bit. I think I am a better player this year to my first season in the Championship last year.
"I thought I had a solid season last year but I think I have improved my game this year and feel a lot stronger and stuff.
“I am really proud that the manager made me captain in the absence of Sammy and I want to thank him for that.”
