Jutkiewicz winning fitness race
Striker should be fit for Millwall Coventry City's striker, Lukas Jutkiewicz, who went off with a knee injury in the 2-1 win over Derby at the weekend, should be fit again in time for the Sky Blues trip to the New Den on Saturday. Jutkiewicz jarred his knee when he scored from the penalty spot to put City ahead, but had to be substituted soon after. City boss Aidy Boothroyd said, “We’ve been waiting for it to settle down but hopefully he’ll be OK. It’s not a long term thing and we hope that if we manage it properly we’ll have him available for Saturday. I hope so, because he’s a good player who has done terrifically for us." “He’s got a goal in him, he’s got a lovely touch and he can bring other people into play. He’s good in the air as well, so he’s got a little bit of everything and it’s just a case of putting it all together so he gets that consistency." “The only thing you worry about is that he hasn’t had a full season yet, but that’s why he’s here. He’s going to grow and get better with age and games.” Jutkiewicz has scored twice for Coventry since his move from Everton in the summer, both goals coming from the spot, the first at Watford and the second at The Ricoh against Derby. “You get penalties when you ask questions of the opposition. Put the ball into areas that are difficult to defend and they can’t cope, but you’ve still got to be able to put them away and with two out of two, Lukas has done that very well," said Boothroyd. Jutkiewicz hadn't played too much competitive football prior to his arrival at Coventry, making just one substitute appearance for The Toffees in 2007, but he has made a quick impact in a sky blue shirt. He admitted, “It was really frustrating to have to come off.
