Jones: City fans frightened of Bellamy
Cardiff manager's claim Cardiff City's manager, former Sky Blues defender Dave Jones, has reacted to Coventry City 's fans who booed Craig Bellamy throughout last nights clash at The Ricoh, by claiming he was booed because the Coventry fans were frightened of him. Tuesday nights game was the first time that Craig Bellamy has played against Coventry City in the nine years since he departed the club in 2001 following their relegation from the Premiership. Jones said, "As a player you don't notice it, and I've never known fans to boo a bad player. Normally if you're getting booed it means they're frightened of you and maybe that was the case today." There is little doubt that Bellamy is a talented player, but that had nothing to do with the hostile reception he received at The Ricoh and much to do with his comments he made about the club around the time he left to join Newcastle United. Bellamy said, while he was still a Coventry City player, that if Coventry were to be relegated he would leave and that his move from Norwich to Coventry was a backward step.
