I've Tried My Best To Repay Andy Thorn - Christie
Cyrus on repaying the faith Cyrus Christie has said that he has tried to repay the faith shown in him by Coventry City manager Andy Thorn. Christie, who has not disappointed whilst he has been in the first team this season and was the Npower man of the match against Derby County, told the CT's Andy Turner: “He showed his faith in me so I’ve tried my best to repay him on the pitch. “It’s great playing alongside Richard because, having been a right-back, he knows exactly what to do and he’s always talking to me through the game. “He doesn’t moan at you, it’s always constructive like it is with Belly, Sheffs, all the players and that gives you a lot of confidence.” Speaking about partnerships on the pitch, Christie said: I like to get forward and use my pace. “I know I’ve got the beating of the left-back most of the time and Chris and I have been working hard in training on getting good balls into the box, the earlier the better. “Chris has got a nice left foot on him and the fact that Richard and Martin Crainey are there gives you the freedom to get forward because you know that most of the time they’re going to win their battles with the strikers. “For the first few games the end product wasn’t there but I’m getting more confident now – it worked well against Derby and we should probably have had a few more goals from it. “I used to play on the wing which I think helps me and with Gael you know that the pass will come to you because he’s great on the ball and really knows what he’s doing. “I’ve played with him a long time now so I think that partnership works well. "I trust him like he trusts me and the fact that we’ve come into the first team at the same time takes a bit of pressure off me. “When he first came here six or seven years ago I used to look after him; he’s a great lad and we get on really well off the pitch, although he likes to go to church a lot and that’s not really my thing.”
