Injury news ahead of Blackpool game

Who is in and who is missing

Ian Holloway brings his Blackpool side to The Ricoh tonight to face a young Coventry City that is once again being hit by injuries.

Midfielder Carl Baker is definitely out. It emerged yesterday he has a ruptured ankle ligament and will be out for about five weeks.

Gary Deegan has been on the bench recently and may take the missing Baker's place in the starting eleven, or possibly Gael Bigirimana may be recalled after being rested.

Striker Cody McDonald picked up a minor knock in the 1-1 draw with Reading at the weekend and is a doubtful starter, but may be on the bench. His place may have been taken by Roy O'Donovan anyway as the Irishman has had a few impressive moments in a Sky Blue shirt this season.

Blackpool still have a strong squad and a wealth of experienced Premiership players. Although it is a vastly different side to the one Holloway had last season in the Premier League, it is still a very strong side and City boss Andy Thorn will not be under estimating it, particularly veteran striker Kevin Philips.

Thorn said, “He’s still a good player and they’ve got Premiership experience in the team so it will be a tough game for us.

“They’ve got Barry Ferguson whose got lots of experience and Ian Evatt and Craig Cathcart from Man Utd, Keith Southern and Brett Ormerod who have played at a high level, so they are a decent side.”
