Ben eager to return to playing Coventry City defender Ben Turner has said that he cannot wait to start playing again. The Birmingham born defender who has come through the ranks at City, ruptured ankle ligaments during the 3-1 loss to Readng back in October and although he managed a couple of reserve games in February, he needed another operation.Speaking to the CT, Turner said: "It's been really frustrating. "it's very hard to take when one injury can write off your season, and it was particularly disappointing because I'd played nearly all the games before then."It started with a training ground injury when I tore the ligaments in my left ankle. "At first I thought that would be a standard six to eight-weeker because I'd ruptured my ankle before and it hadn't been causing me any problem."But this time it hurt so much more - the worst pain I've ever been in - so I thought it must be a major injury. "I managed to get back into training a couple of times but it never got to the point when I was happy with it or getting match fit. "It was reducing my flexibility and any big impact or stretching of the joint led to inflammation."So they did some more scans and that showed that the injury had uncovered other problems and made them worse."There was a spur on the joint that was digging in on some soft tissue where it shouldn't have been and there was also some floating bone."We decided surgery was the only option and I had the operation three weeks ago - they shaved down the spur and took out the floating bone from the joint so hopefully that's the end of it."It feels a bit sore because of the operation but it's a lot better now - I don't feel as if I'm walking around with a bad ankle every day."The physios are fairly confident that I'm ready to start playing again but obviously we've run out of games - I'm back at a time when it's all finished."So I'll just have to focus on making sure that I'm as fit as possible when we start pre-season - everybody who has been playing all the games is looking forward to a break but I can't wait to get started again!"Picture copyright of Covsupport News Service.
