Coventry Sphinx went down to a 1-3 home defeat to Dunkirk this afternoon at Sphinx Drive.

After the club had held a minute's applause for Ruth Hopkins, mother of player and club worker Luke and wife of Club Secretary Richard, who sadly passed away on Friday, Sphinx took a seventh minute lead through Arron Donaldson.

However, Dunkirk were level in the 38th minute following a Rob McCormick shot which the ball bouncing up and down on the line was given as a goal.

Bowen put Dunkirk ahead in the 66th minute and the visitors scored in stoppage time to inflict a 3-1 defeat on Sphinx who travel to Heath Hayes on Tuesday night for a Midland Alliance League Cup tie.
