Hendry declared bankrupt
Former City defender owe over £1m Former Scotland and Coventry City defender Stephen Hendry has been declared bankrupt at a hearing at Blackpool County Court. Hendry wasn't in court to hear the decision not to grant him the Individual voluntary arrangement he had asked for so he could slowly pay off his debts, but most of his creditors had rejected this option. Barrister for one of Hendry's creditors Mr Gosling, who represented SpreadEx, an online betting firm and one of Hendry's creditors, rejected Hendry's application for the Individual Voluntary Agreement which left the judge no option other than to declare Mr Hendry bankrupt. No details were revealed by the court as to how much Hendry owes and no court documents were made available, however it has been reported in the past that Hendry has been issued with a tax demand in excess of £1m. In addition the 45 year old former Scottish international defender and owes thousands of pounds to other creditors.
