City Old Boy News Former Coventry City loanee Jordan Henderson and former youngster Danny Sturridge started for Stuart Pearce's England U21 in their EuroU21 Championship 2-1 defeat against the Czech Republic tonight. This Group B game at Viborg was a must win game for England whilst the Czech's who had the noisier of the support could qualify with a draw. Sturridge who is being chased by Newcastle United had an eigth minute goal ruled out for offside and in the 28th minute a great passing move saw Tom Cleverley fire the wrong side of the post, either side of two saves for Frankie Fielding. In the 40th minute, Scott Sinclair had a shot pushed over for a corner but there were no goals at the break. In the 63rd minute, Jordan Henderson was replaced by Henri Lansbury to try and provide another attacking option against a side more than happy to get men behind the ball and defend. England needed a goal and it came from a Danny Wellbeck header in the 76th minute. Everything looked rosy but in the dying minutes, Fiedling came out of his goal and missed so Chramosta flicked the ball past him to score. Then in stoppage time, the England defence were cut open and Pekhart slotted into an empty net to knock England out of the tournament.
