Iceman not for sale Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has stated that his Icelandic midfielder Aron Gunnarsson is not for sale and he is going to be staying at Coventry. There has been media speculation surrounding Gunnarsson being wanted by Burnely, Middlesbrough and Bolton. Brain Laws is known to be a big fan of the young Icelandic star, but according to Boothroyd he will be disappointed. Boothroyd has revealed that contrary to speculation, he has had no enquiries about Gunnarsson. Speaking from Obertraun in Austria, Boothroyd said, “We have had no calls from anyone. I don’t even know who is agent is and no-one has spoken to me about him.” When asked if Gunnarsson was in his plans for coming season, Boothroyd was positive, saying, “Absolutely, because I like him and I think he has got a lot of strengths. Like any team that is successful, it has soldiers and it has artists, and he will be a good soldier, I am sure.” Boothroyd also had a theory as to why Gunnarsson, who had a fantastic first season at Coventry, but only a mediocre second season. He explained,  “Sometimes it can be down to age and they hit the ground running and then they think they don’t have to work as hard and forget the heights that got them there in the first place." “They don’t mean to do that but they psychologically down tools and then sometimes they just have a really bad attitude and think they are better than everyone else and they are not, but having worked with Aron for a few days I don’t think it would have been down to attitude and rather he is just coming to terms with the expectation of being a good player." “A lot of them can’t cope with it at first and a lot have to get it wrong before they get it right, and I just think he is one of those. Potentially, I think he can be anything but he has got to be consistent otherwise he will always be a maybe.”
