Shearer, Ward and Stead in the news Three former Coventry City players are in the news this morning. One has a new club, one may have a new club and another says he will do better at his new club. Former Coventry City goalkeeper Scott Shearer has signed for Wrexham. Shearer played 30 times for City before moving to Rushden and Diamonds on loan then to Bristol Rovers in the summer of 2005. Elliot Ward, who moved to Norwich City on a free transfer in the Spring, played his first game for the club on Thursday. Norwich were beaten 1-0 by Dagenham and Redbridge and Ward played for 45 minutes, his first game time since an Achilles injury sidelined him. Ward said after the game, “This is my first 45. It's nice to get it out of the way. I hope that's the cobwebs off and when I play the next one I will perform a little bit better."“Fitness wise it was all right, Achilles it was wise all right but the actual game? For me, I could have done a few things better. That's me being harsh on myself and I've got to realise it's my first 45 as well." “I've settled in well with a great set of lads. What they did together last season has stayed with them. It's a good group, with good morale. The lads are very decent and they've welcomed me well.” Finally Jon Stead, who played for Coventry while on loan from Ipswich in the later part of last season until injury forced him to return to his home club, is being tracked by Bristol City. Ipswich boss Roy Keane has accepted a Bristol City offer of £250,000 for the striker, who will travel to Bristol today to discuss terms
