.Former Coventry City trialist Kevin Ellegaard played in goal for Swedish side IF Elfsborg in their Europa League game away to Danish side Esbjerg IB tonight.

At the Bluewater Arena, Ellegaard, who was injured in a pre-season game at Hinckley and replaced by Michael Quirke for City in July 2010 and not offered a deal after Kieran Westwood regained his fitness, was not called into action in a first half between two poor teams until the 33rd minute when he saved from a Mushaga Bakenga header and another two minutes later when he dived to his right to push away another Bakenga header following a throw in.

Ellegard was to deny Bakenga for a third time when he came out and used his face to block.

Eleven minutes into the second half. Ellegaard could only watch as Emil Lyng thumped his left hand post with a twenty yarder in the 56th minute.

Esbjerg, who will probably qualify from this group with runaway leaders Salzburg, drew another good save from Ellegaard and took the lead in the 71st minute when Substitute Mick Van Buren slipped the ball in past the wrong footed Ellegaard from close range.

That was the only goal of the game in front of a gate of 10,049 and meant that Ellegaard's side, are out.
