Davenport court case continues Former Coventry City defender Calum Davenport has been in court listening to evidence against him at Luton Crown Court where he is on trial for causing actual bodily harm to his sister. Prosecuting barrister Beverley Cripps said Mr Davenport's sister Cara and her four year old son Calum Junior were in bed asleep when Mr Davenport and his father woke her up at 0200 BST on 22 August 2009. She said,"He went there when he was drunk and his father was also drunk. They started putting questions to her. Unfortunately the questions were made in terms that were very abusive." "Cara's son Calum Junior is mixed race and his father is unfortunately in jail. The father of the child she was carrying is also a mixed race gentleman." Ms Cripps said Mr Davenport called his sister a "whore" and made abusive comments. The people involved in the row then made their way downstairs where it is alleged that Mr Davenport pushed his sister in the face so she fell back onto the stairs. He started to head butt her and in the struggle bit her cheek. She then fled and went in search of her boyfriend Worrell Whitehurst who later attacked Davenport with a knife, stabbing him in his legs incurring injuries serious enough to have nearly ended his footballing career. Whitehurst later pleaded guilty to a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent on Calum Davenport and causing actual bodily harm Davenport's mother Kim Stupple, who had tried to separate them. The trial continues.
