Former City Lady Called Up For England

Womens football news Former Coventry City Ladies defender Laura Bassett has been called up for England women's first team. Bulkington hailing Bassett has been called into the squad for the game against Sweden on May 17th. Bassett along with her team mates Dania Susi, Rachel Williams and Karen Carney was involved in Birmngham City's 4-0 win at Liverpool in the Women's Super League tonight. Birmingham who have former Coventry City midfielder Barry Powell as a coach, took the lead in the 21st minute through Susi before Williams hit a hat-trick which included two penalties. In the other Super League game which had Coventry Referee Andrew Stickley as an assistant, Everton came back through a 60th minute Nathasa Dowie goal to earn a 1-1 draw against Doncaster Rovers.
