Former Coventry City forward Roy O'Donovan scored his first goal since joining Northampton Town.
The Irishman, who had his contract at City cancelled so he could team up with Aidy Boothroyd again, scored in the 11th minute of a 2-1 win at Southend United.
O'Donovan hooked home from a Ben Tozer throw.
Kevin Kyle scored for Rangers in a 4-1 win at Clyde.
