Singer's First Ground Finally Located

Hats off to Coventry City club historian Lionel Bird, who has found the exact whereabouts of Singer FC's first ever pitch.

Dowells Field was always thought to be the venue for Singers FC but good work from Lionel, now brings to light that Samuel Dowell owned three pitches and one of these where Singers, whose first game was possibly a 9-0 thrashing away to a Coventry & District Cricket Association team on Binley Road in 1883, played, had two corner flags in what is now in Humber Avenue and the other two in Firedrake Croft and Ribble Road.
