Fergie Praise For City Old Boy

Former Coventry City loanee Dean Holdsworth was praised by Sir Alex Ferguson for the way his Aldershot team played in their 3-0 League Cup defeat to Manchester United at the Recreation Ground.

"I think Aldershot have fought really hard and they take a lot of credit, they never stopped running, they never stopped pressing the ball, they put in a good shift," Ferguson said to Sky Sports.

Elsewhere tonight, former Coventry City youngster Robert Ogleby was sent off in a 2-0 Scottish League Cup defeat for East Fife at Kilmarnock.

Craig Reid played well for seventy minutes in midfield for Stevenage in a 1-0 win at Brentford.

Michael Doyle was  booked in Sheffield United's 2-1 win over MK Dons and Lee Hughes was also cautioned in Notts County's 2-2 draw at Bury.

Gary Madine was sent off in the 81st minute of Sheffield Wednesday's 3-2 defeat at his former club Carlisle United.
