Ex players return to The Ricoh

Turner and Gunnarsson back to face old club.

Two of Coventry City's former players will return to The Ricoh tonight when Cardiff City are the visitors.

Gunnarsson left Coventry during the summer when he rejected the offer of a new contract and joined the Bluebirds on a free transfer. Later Ben Turner was sold to Cardiff shortly after signing a three year deal to keep him at Coventry.

Many fans though the £750,000 reported fee paid by Cardiff for Turner was ridiculously cheap for a player of his quality and with three years left on his contract.

Coventry City manager Andy Thorn is looking forward to seeing his former players again though, and he said, We’ll look forward to seeing them again.

“They’re both good players and honest lads, but I’m not too worried about the former players syndrome, there’s enough of them out there. Peter Whittingham was at our Academy, you know, but Oggy released him and Daniel Sturridge!

“To be serious, it’s not about them, it’s about us  and if we play the way we did against West Ham, and get any sort of a break, we are more than capable of getting a result and then going on a little run.”
