Joe Elliott on the SCG Sky Blues director Joe Elliott has saluted the ‘fantastic’ working relationship the club has developed with its fans consultative group.  The Coventry City Supporters Consultative Group, which is made up by representatives of different fan groups, meets with senior CCFC staff throughout the year to help generate ideas and discuss issues.  The group was established in January 2006 and Elliott says he is delighted with the progress of the group – which gives input into key football club issues.  Major successes have included the launch of Sky Blues International, the creation of the family JSB Zone, improvements at the Ricoh and the recent half-term fan day.  Elliott said: “When we set up the group we wanted to bring together a group of fans who represent different types of supporters, and give them a direct route to the boardroom.  “The group has seen a lot of change since 2006, but the relationship has been superb in the last year particularly, and it’s making a real difference in how we do things at Coventry City.  “It’s very productive and practical. We don’t always agree on issues, but we’re all interested in what we can do to help this club move forward.  “This year we’ve seen the opening of the JSB Zone, which was something we discussed and debated at length in the group, to make sure we got it right – and we have.  “We have also discussed season ticket pricing and ways to win back ‘stay-away’ supporters or gain new ones altogether.”  Chairman of the Supporters’ Consultative Group, Peter Ward, said it was good to see the fans’ ideas leading to positive changes at the football club. He said: “It’s important that the supporters have a say in how the football club is run and we feel that these meetings are helping to make improvements – some big and some small.  “There are around 15 fan representatives trying to cover all types of supporter – whether they are local, non-local, disabled, young, old – everything, so we get to give input into all areas of the club.  “We aim to support the continued improvement of fans’ matchday experience, from improving the ease of buying tickets, travelling to and from the stadium, and making the Ricoh experience the best around. Our main objective is getting more people to the Ricoh supporting the Sky Blues.  “We pass on any questions or emails we are given, so if people have something they want to raise, they should email us on scg@ccfc.co.uk.”   Picture copyright of Advent Communications.
